CHILD PROTECTION WORKERS - Sault Ste. Marie
1 - Permanent
1 - Relief


The Children’s Aid Society of Algoma requires a Permanent and a Relief Child Protection Worker for its office in Sault Ste. Marie. Child Protection Workers provide investigation, assessments and case management and require prior experience in the child welfare field and/or directly related experience. All positions require a clear criminal record search, road-worthy vehicle and valid driver’s license.

Salary Range: $59,614- $73,279

Required Skills:
Qualifications:

•Preferred education: Bachelor of Social Work degree
•Minimum education: University Degree in the Human Sciences
•Direct experience as front-line child protection worker
•Skills that allow the incumbent to accurately assess individual and family functioning
•Well versed in individual and family counselling techniques that will address dysfunction within the context of a child protection mandate
•Effective organization, time management and communication skills, both verbal and written
•Ability to work both independently and as a member of the child protection team
•Knowledgeable in all ministry/legislative standards relating to child protection
•Experience and sensitivity to the needs of First Nations and Metis communities are a requirement
•Current CPR/First Aid
