Job Description:

Work as part of a team with the implementation of curriculum and daily program plan in accordance with the CCEYA and Cedarbrook CDC`s program philosophy and policies.

Prepare activities that are age and developmentally appropriate, and that focus on all of the major learning domains.

Act in accordance with Ministry of Education and Cedarbrook policies and procedures at all times, with particular regard to the Behavior Management and Abuse policies.

Maintain the highest professional standards when dealing with children, families, staff and/or outside organizations

Liaise with parents on a daily basis and relay any pertinent information about the child, events of the day or events at the day care

Maintain an orderly and sanitary environment including maintaining and disinfecting toys and furniture, cleaning of the classroom and washroom, organizing cupboards and storage areas, and informing the Supervisor when supplies are required

Maintain records as required including Attendance Records, Daily Log Book etc

Carry out duties as required during emergency situations

Participate in weekly and monthly team meetings

Maintain an oath of confidentiality at all times

Participate in a minimum of one professional development opportunity each year

Maintain membership in good standing with the College of ECE

Perform other duties as required

Required Skills:

Early Childhood Education Diploma or ECE equivalency and a Registered member in good standing with the College of ECE or Diploma in a field related to infant and child development

- Minimum 2 years of experience working with young children
- Strong knowledge of infant and child development
- Working knowledge of the CCEYA
- First Aid and CPR certified, C+ required
- Satisfactory criminal reference check, Vulnerable Persons Sector required
- Ability to lift and move children and equipment as required within the regular function of a preschool environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to take direction
- Flexibility
- Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development
- Proven planning and organizational skills
- Ability to comply with confidential nature of the position
- Ability to work as a team or independently
- Effective behaviour management skills
